Subaru will introduce its first all-electric model, the Solterra, to the Australian market at a much lower price than previously announced.

The 2024 Subaru Solterra convertible will now cost from $69,990 before on-road costs, an $8000 reduction from the previously announced price of $77,990. That’s a 10.3 percent price reduction.

The top-grade Touring also now comes in at a lower price, $76,990 ($6700 less than before), albeit with a slight drop of 8.0 percent.

Those who have already ordered a Solterra need not stress about missing out on the new price, Subaru Australia has confirmed.

“The revised price will apply to all existing orders, with no further action required from customers as their Subaru retailer will contact them directly with their vehicle order,” the statement said.

No specification changes have been announced regarding the price drop, and the Solterras will still come with a five-year service plan and five years of roadside assistance.

The electric car’s new price means it’s now cheaper than the range from rivals such as the Kia EV6, Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5, and costs the same as the smaller Volvo EX30 Twin Performance Ultra.

Both Solterra variants are dual-motor AWD, with a 71.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a claimed range of 414km. Output is 160kW/337Nm.
