Where Skoda “lifts” the weight of VW Group batteries

Cooperation between companies of the same group is not something hidden. Therefore, Skoda has taken a large “load” of manufacturing batteries for models of other companies in the group. In fact, it soon reached the incredible number of half a million batteries.

This process takes place at the central plant in Mladá Boleslav. There, batteries are created at a rapid pace that will later be installed in hybrid models of Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi and Seat. In fact, there will soon be a major development of a special production line, to complete the mission. For this reason, the company has trained more than 23,000 of its employees so that they can fly in the field of electric mobility.

“The milestone of 500,000 batteries for plug-in hybrid vehicles confirms the Volkswagen Group’s confidence in our highly specialized team,” says Michael Oeljeklaus, member of Skoda Auto’s board of directors for the production of batteries for plug-in hybrid models – produced supplements. since September 2019.

Impressive production numbers:
-Each shift has about 50 workers working on an area of ​​about 2,000 sq.m.
-A total of 13 fully autonomous robots handle heavy components. –Every 86 seconds, the battery is depleted for plug-in hybrid models.
-When unloaded from the production line, the battery weighs 130 kg.
