We want a democratic and fair election process

DIYARBAKIR– As part of the investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır General Prosecutor’s Office on April 25, 126 people, including lawyers, journalists, artists, politicians and representatives of non-governmental organizations, were detained. In the statement issued by 97 institutions in this city regarding the detention, it was stated that the concern about the security of the election increased.

Indicating that the detention has raised concerns throughout the country about the principle of fair elections and the integrity and security of elections, the statement said, “In Turkey, there is an arbitrary interference with fundamental rights and freedoms; lawyers, human rights defenders, politicians, journalists, artists and civil society We frequently witness processes in which organizations are targeted by the courts and face criminal threats. Especially during election campaigns, the harassment and sanctions brought by the courts unfortunately increase our concern about election security.
