Toyota’s new car launched today, claimed to be the Yaris Cross

Toyota Indonesia will release a new car today, Monday (15/5). The new car to be launched is suspect YarisCross and will be sold at an estimated price starting at IDR 350 million.

A salesman from a Toyota dealer in Jakarta said that this car will be available in two variants, which are petrol and hybrid. There are four types of standard models available, the price is estimated at Rp. 350 million-Rp. 416 million. While the hybrid has two types with an estimated price of IDR 450 million and IDR 460 million.

“For start Estimated price is around Rp. 350 million,” said the seller at the end of last week.

He revealed that users who are interested can already order so that they can get a local queue number.

The price for ordering the petrol version is Rp. 15 million, while the hybrid model is Rp. 20 million. But the seller admitted that he had not received more information about the specifications.

“If you can get in line now, sign or book. But if the unit is sent, it is reported to be in June,” he said.

Toyota-Astra Motor previously announced that it will launch a new car in Indonesia on Monday (15/5). TAM did not reveal its identity but it is said to have launched as the ‘Icon of Urban Cruiser’.

The claims then refer to the Yaris Cross, a mid-sized SUV that has been rumored for some time to be produced and sold in the country. In Indonesia, this car will compete with Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, Wuling Alvez and Hyundai Creta.

Yaris Cross is a B-segment SUV manufactured in Japan and France and sold in the European and Australian markets since 2020. This vehicle is designed using the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) GA-B which is also used in the new generation Sienta. and Yaris for the European market.

The Yaris Cross is powered by a 1,500 cc M15A-FKS petrol engine and Toyota’s fourth-generation hybrid technology is available on the 1,500 cc M15A-FXE engine.

If it enters Indonesia, the Yaris Cross will rank below Toyota’s other two-row SUVs such as the C-HR and Corolla Cross, but above the Raize.

Earlier, Anton Jimmi Suwandy as Marketing Director of TAM had hinted that the new hybrid car that would be launched later would also be assembled in this country, following the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid.

“There will be more hybrid models [baru] domestic production this year, just wait,” Anton said some time ago.
