Toyota reveals the new Yaris Cross that could arrive in Brazil next year

Toyota launched the Yaris Cross in Indonesia, its latest compact SUV to be produced in Brazil to compete with other SUVs in the market, such as the Chevrolet Tracker, Jeep Renegade, Hyundai Creta and Honda HR-V.

The Indonesian Yaris Cross is based on the DNGA platform, a simplified version of the TNGA platform found on the Corolla and Corolla Cross models. The car is larger than the European Yaris Cross, and has a length of 4.31 meters and a wheelbase of 2.62 meters, the latter ensuring a generous interior space for example. However, if the model is made here, the general dimensions may undergo special changes.

In terms of design, the Yaris Cross has visual lines very close to the RAV4, its older brother. The front, for example, has a wide grille in relation to its size, and the headlights have pronounced angles, with an upper line of LEDs and vertical fog lights to finish.

The rear of the Yaris Cross is more similar to the RAV4, this one, due to the design of the rear lights and the trunk lid. Internally it also bears a resemblance to its big brother, however, it also brings unique details.

The manufacturer revealed some of the things that will be standard on the model, things like: digital air conditioning, six airbags, electronic stability control, blind spot control, electronic parking brake, parking sensor, instrument panel 7-inch digital. multimedia center with 10.1-inch floating screen, sunroof (Indonesian version), mobile phone charger and optional wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

As for the engine, there is a model that will have a 1.5 petrol engine and hybrid versions.

Toyota do Brasil had already confirmed an investment of 1.7 billion for the Sorocaba and Porto Feliz plants, both located within SP. In addition, it was explained by the manufacturer that this investment would be for improvements in both plants, but also to produce a new hybrid Flex Compact SUV in Brazil from the end of 2024, which could be this Yaris Cross presented in Indonesia.
