Little changes under the hood. This means the Kia Sorento is still available as a plug-in hybrid with a 1.6 T-GDI petrol engine and a 13.8 kWh battery, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard. The hybrid variant has a 1.6 T-GDI with a 1.49 kWh battery. This engine version also has a six-speed automatic transmission, but with front-wheel drive.
The biggest update is the exterior and interior changes. The SUV has a completely new face with sharper lines and a more compact design. This translates into a larger nose, including a widened grille and striking, vertically positioned headlights. The front end of the new Sorento comes close to that of the EV9. Unlike the fully electric EV9, this SUV still relies on current hybrid engines and plug-ins.
Inside, the Kia will soon be available with recycled plastic or artificial leather. Along with the updated interior, the infotainment system has also been revised: the cockpit is equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation and a 12.3-inch instrument panel with a driver’s head-up display. The facelift could be ordered from early next year.
