The Turkish Racing Team joins the race!

The organizers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans announced the list of exhibitors for 2023 as of today. Although it was announced that there will be 16 cars in the Hypercar category, the Turkish Racing Team, which proudly represents our country, is also in the LMP2 class.

Hypercar is known as the top division of the Le Mans 24 Hours, and in the list of participants published on Monday, it appeared that a total of 16 cars took place.

It has already been announced that 13 Hypercars will be shown at the WEC this year; now three more have been added to these vehicles.

While Porsche Penske Motorsport is preparing another LMDh 963 for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Felipe Nasr was the first to be announced to run in this car. So Porsche Penske Motorsport will have three cars in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In addition, the Hertz JOTA Team will battle the Porsche 963 at the event. This brings the number of Porsches on the grid to four.

Cadillac Racing will compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with two Cadillac V-LMDhs, while Action Express Racing will compete with a Cadillac V-LMDh.

Ferrari will have two cars, as previously announced. Glickenhaus, Peugeot and Toyota Gazoo Racing also have two cars each.

Finally, the Floyd Vanwall Racing Team is racing the Vanwall Vandervell 680 as previously announced.

Thus, a total of 16 cars will be held in the Hypercar class.

LMP2

There is good news for Türkiye in the LMP2 class! The Turkish Racing Team will participate in the Le Mans 24 Hours this year.

Representing our country in the European arena, the Turkish Racing Team will be part of Le Mans with its special color scheme of the crescent moon and stars.

The Turkey Racing Team issued the following statement after being included in the list of participants: “For the 2022 Le Mans Series PRO/AM championship, Turkish Racing Team, the first Turkish team to win the championship in the endurance series of motor sports, will be on the grid at Le Mans 24, one of the most prestigious races in motor sports. , in 2023.”

“In this important year that coincides with the 100th Anniversary of our Holy Republic and the 100th Anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Turkish team will participate for the first time. In this race we will compete in the LMP2 and LMP2 classifications Pro/Am, our only goal is to make the brave soldiers of our Republic proud of the victory in its 100th year. We share with you the prototypes of the Turkish LMP2 Racing Team with door number 923, specially prepared for the 100th anniversary of our Republic.”

The first name announced to be in the car was Salih Yoluç.

Participation in the LMP2 class is very high. There are a total of 24 Oreca 07s on the grid. Eight of them will compete in the pro-am class.

GTE Am

After the disappearance of the GTE Pro class, GTE Am will be the only GT class in the WEC and Le Mans 24 Hours from 2023.

21 cars are taking part in the race, of which 14 are currently on the WEC entry list.

Garage 56

Completing the grid at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is based on a new NASCAR Cup car.

This car was registered as a ‘creative car’ within the scope of the program called Garage 56. The project is run by Hendrick Motorsports and the drivers will be Jenson Button, Jimmie Johnson and Mike Rockenfeller.

There are a total of 10 entries on the reserve list for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including DragonSpeed ​​​​LMP2 and Juan Pablo and Sebastian Montoya.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans will be run on 10 and 11 June.
