The sale of the Magna (ex-Ford) plant in Blanquefort has been postponed

Magna management notified the unions on December 21 that there would be no no presentation of the new owner Mutares, to the workers, on January 3, when returning from the end of the year holidays, as previously planned. No new date has been set. And no explanation was given, according to CGT. The management of Magna (ex-Ford) let it be known in writing that “The transfer of ownership of the Bordeaux factory from Magna to Mutares is still ongoing and the gradual withdrawal of the conditions will lead to the postponement of the closing date of the transaction”.

“Did our actions disturb Magna and Mutares?” That is what the unions want to believe. The file is on the desk of the Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire. In mid-December, the judge in the courtrooms of Bordeaux gave his green light for the sale of the site and its 700 employees
who make Ford gearboxes. Production that must stop in 2025. “Mutares’ intention is to bankrupt our website
obeying the leaders who are Ford and Magna” repeats this December 21 CGT.
