mobilinanews (Seoul) – Hyundai Motor Company celebrates the reintroduction of the Pony Coupe concept car at the first Hyundai Summit at the historic Villa Pliniana on Lake Como, Italy.

This event brings together Hyundai engineers and designers from different eras to celebrate proposed returns for the 1974 concept car that became the precursor to the creation of the Pony line.

The Pony is the first car to be independently developed and mass-produced in Korea.

To recreate the 1974 Pony Coupe concept car, Hyundai Motor collaborated with the Italian design firm GFG Style, specifically with its founders, father and son duo Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro.

Interestingly, this influential car was first designed by a young Giorgetto for Hyundai’s debut at the 1974 Turin Motor Show.

At this event, Hyundai Motor also showcased the N Vision 74 concept car which was based on the Pony Coupe concept car.

These two vehicles represent the company’s history and future linked by a common lineage and show the company’s continued willingness to continue to dare to innovate.

“Despite the dire industrial situation in the 1970s, my grandfather and the founder of Hyundai, Ju-young Chung, poured his heart and soul into rebuilding the Korean economy and improving people’s lives after the destruction of the Korean War. As a tool to develop a legacy brand as well as reflecting the direction that Hyundai Motor has taken and taken, the Hyundai Reunion brought together the engineers and designers involved in the creation of the N Vision 74 and the original Pony Coupe concept.

This celebration was also enlivened by the presence of Giorgetto Giugiaro and the former President of Hyundai Motor, Chung Goo Lee.

Hyundai Motor introduced the original Pony Coupe concept at the Turin Motor Show in 1974. This international motor show was one of the largest of its time.

The Pony Coupe-inspired N Vision 74 competes in a concept car competition

Hyundai Motor also entered the N Vision 74 in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, one of the world’s three leading luxury car competitions, from May 19-21. The N Vision 74 will compete on the global stage in the Concept and Prototype car categories by highlighting its heritage designs.

More than a concept car, the N Vision 74, which debuted in 2022 to great acclaim, is a car. ‘Rolling Labs’ which carries the hydrogen hybrid technology from Hyundai N.

The design, which was inspired by the 1974 Pony Coupe concept car, became a model for the company’s future vision of pure mobility.

The N Vision 74 comes with Hyundai’s advanced technology offering which can be seen from the twin independent engines on the left and right of the rear wheels, output power of 680 PS, and the ability to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in less than 4 seconds.

The vehicle’s power comes from an 85 kW hydrogen fuel cell in the front, battery lithium-ion 62 kWh between driver and passenger, and two 2.1 kg hydrogen tanks in the back giving it a range of around 600 km.
