Japan’s Lexus hasn’t gone overboard with electric cars yet, so far it’s launching its first car designed to run solely on batteries. While the old and smaller UX 300e was also available with combustion units and even without a hybrid, the RZ 450e has only electric motors – the front has 150 kW, the rear 80 kW. So the total is 230 kW (313 hp). The battery has a capacity of 71.4 kWh and promises a range of up to 440 km for the lightest version on 18″ wheels in the basic Comfort equipment, “full fire” on 20″ wheels in the Luxury version should handle 395 km.

The Lexus RZ has many comfort, style and safety features in the standard Comfort equipment. These include the PCS pre-collision system with driver alert monitoring functionality, LTA’s semi-autonomous driving system and DRCC adaptive cruise control. The vehicle also offers AHB high beam control and RSA traffic sign detection. The car has automatic air conditioning including humidity sensor, e-Latch electric lock and Smart Entry key system. Eco, Normal, Sport and Range driving modes are also available. The Lexus RZ offers Lexus Connected remote services with a 14″ media touchscreen including navigation. To add comfort, it offers mobile phone connectivity via bluetooth, a DAB tuner and high-quality audio with speakers. 10.
