The New Fiat Titano Pickup Is The Stellantis Chinese Hilux And Ranger Rival.

The Italian ladder-frame truck of Chinese origin will be available in Africa and South America

Just a few months after debuting in Algeria, the all-new Fiat Titano has arrived in South America, with Argentina and Brazil leading the way in welcoming the mid-size truck. According to the Peugeot Landtrek, the Titano will boast a range of engine options tailored for different regions, all optimized to meet the specific needs of local customers.

From the outside, it’s hard to tell the Fiat Titano apart from its Peugeot twin. The only points of difference between the two pickup trucks from Stellantis seem to be the logo, a redesigned grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a name on the tailgate that was inspired by Greek mythology (like the unrelated Nissan Titan).

In fact, the Fiat Titano’s chassis and overall profile is shared by the Kaicene F70 and Changan Lantazhe from China, both of which use the same ladder frame base. As with its counterparts, Fiat offers Single Cab and Double Cab versions, based on preferences for cargo area length or interior space, respectively. At 5,331 millimeters (209.9 inches) long, the Titano falls slightly taller than the rival Toyota Hilux and just a touch shorter than the Ford Ranger.

Fiat Algeria

The interior of the Fiat Titano closely resembles that of the Peugeot, the main difference being the presence of the Fiat logo on the steering wheel. Surprisingly, the Titano Volcano’s only flagship piece is the 10-inch touchscreen.

According to Fiat, the Algerian-specific Titano prioritizes fuel efficiency. This is reflected in its 1.9-liter diesel engine, which produces 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is uniquely connected to a six-speed manual gearbox, transmitting power to the rear (4 × 2) or all four wheels (4 × 4) and an electronic differential lock. With a maximum payload capacity of 1,210 kg (2,668 pounds), this version closely matches its main rivals.

In Brazil, the new Fiat Titano is offered in three versions called Endurance, Volcano, and Ranch, all with two cabins. They have a 180-horsepower 2.2-liter Multijet II diesel engine and all-wheel drive as standard.

Mopar accessories

In South America, Fiat also offers a range of more than 40 Mopar accessories for the Titano. These include both aesthetic and practical options, such as extended fender flares, roof pillars, ramps, five different side step options, a wireless charger with USB-C input, and much more.

Price

The Fiat Titano debuted in Algeria in December, with prices ranging from DA 3,489,000 (about $26,000) to DA 4,289,000 ($32,000) depending on the trim level chosen. As for Brazil, where the Titano will be positioned above the smaller Fiat Strada and the sedan Toro, prices range from R$219,990 to R$259,990, or roughly US$44,100 to US$52,100 at current exchange rates. Pricing and availability for Argentina will be announced at a later date.
