You can go buy a Toyota Camry for one million and fifty thousand crowns. A large sedan that offers high comfort, but fits perfectly on the road. Or you can go as far as you like and get the impressive Lexus ES 300h. And first he became the subject of the daily test.
The Lexus ES 300h currently starts at a price of K 1,199,000, which includes, among other things, Bi-LED lights or the Lexus Media Display 12.3 touch screen and many interesting accessories.
Last year’s refreshed ES model looks the same at first glance, but Toyota has tweaked one of its distinguishing features, namely the invisible radiator grille. Now it is more extended in the front direction, has a smaller number of vertical slats and uses a changed set of L elements. The headlights have received a fundamental improvement – the high-end versions are equipped with three LED lights and the dynamic BladeScan technology, which it has a refined signature of daytime running lights and fog lights.
A new feature in the interior is a 12.3-inch touchscreen on the center panel, which the automaker has placed 10 centimeters closer to the ide. The display is also now tilted 5 degrees towards the screen, which improves its usability. Overall, thanks to these minor changes, the cockpit seems to be more thoughtful. Next to the display we find a new analog clock, inspired by the top model of the Lexus LS. In addition, the car manufacturer played a little with the climate panel, its controls are placed on a strap painted with piano black lacquer.
The new infotainment has a traditional environment known from other models of the Japanese car manufacturer, which, in addition to touch, is also possible to move using the familiar touchpad. Of course, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are not missing.
The luggage compartment offers a volume of 454 liters, but it is necessary to tolerate the impossibility of folding the rear seats. It is important to keep the inner lining of the armrest.
Under the hood is the original 2.5-liter engine with an output of 131 kW, which is supplemented by an electric motor that delivers another 88 kW. The total power of the system is 160 kW, its transmission to the rear wheels is handled by the E-CVT transmission. ES 300h can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.9 seconds, and the maximum speed is then limited to 180 km / h.
Immediately after the first kilometers, it is clear to the driver that this model and the appearance of the dog do not have a great desire for sports. Acceleration is good, but the Lexus is better suited for quiet cruising. This is unparalleled peace and prosperity on board. Then it is difficult to know anything about driving. And a sudden step on the gas pedal will pull you out of the intoxication of pleasure. the idler will make its presence known at high revs and the gearbox will make a vacuum cleaner sound. This car likes to drive comfortably, you can reach average speed with it comfortably, fuel consumption can be up to six liters per hundred kilometers. We drove the ES 300h for a week at 5.7 l/100 km, which combined with the 50-litre fuel tank means you don’t have to worry about frequent service visits.
The Lexus ES 300h is basically a comfortable sedan that should handle long distances without any problems. He will definitely not embarrass you because of his appearance. It is only important to note that the sedan body will not suit everyone.
