The Hyundai i20 has had a facelift. He only lost four cylinders, now he only has a small hybrid

The car will arrive in the Czech market in the third quarter of this year.

The Hyundai brand was proud of the updated i20 model, which is trying to attract customers with a luxurious appearance and even richer technological equipment. At the same time, the change is respectable – both externally and internally.

The redesigned urban hatchback boasts a redesigned front bumper and radiator grille, which should make it look more elegant and sporty. At the back, we see a new bumper designed with a unique light design in the shape of the letter Z. The range of wheels has also been expanded, where we can find new discs with a diameter of 16 and 17 inches.

The range of colors has been expanded with three new shades – metallic Lucid Lime and pearlescent Lumen Gray and Meta Blue. There will be a total of 8 lacquers on offer, with a separate roof lacquer in Phantom Black pearl color still available as an option.

The interior can now offer plaster decoration, which should revive the atmosphere. The car’s seats and interior will also receive new sporty upholstery and dotted lines. Sports behavior should also be reinforced by plastering the areas where workers often touch each other.

The new model comes standard with a 4.2 color LCD display on the instrument panel, a USB-C charging port, the second generation of the eCall system (works with 4G networks) and wireless OTA map updates.

If required, the car will also be available with a 10.25-inch instrument panel and a 10.25-inch multimedia system display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The equipment also includes a wireless charger or a Bluelink telematics system.

The automaker has also replaced all interior bulbs with LED lights, and the kit includes up to 64 color combinations for ambient lighting. An optional Bose audio system will also be available.

The car will now offer more Hyundai Smart Sense safety systems in the basic equipment. FCA’s autonomous emergency braking system has both urban (“City”) and extraurban (“Interrurban”) driving modes. In addition to pedestrians, it also has the ability to detect cyclists. The LFA’s Active Lane Keeping Assist ensures the car stays in its lane.

Other safety systems will be available as an option, such as warning of passing vehicles during backup, active assistant to avoid collision with vehicles in the blind spot, NSSC cruise control and others. Under the hood, there will be a 1.0 T-GDI engine with a 48V micro-hybrid, set to 100 or 120 horsepower. Previously, the most powerful version of the T-GDI engine had a mild hybrid system, and the version it also included the four-cylinder 1.2i (62 kW).

Power transmission to the wheels will be provided by a six-speed iMT mechanical transmission with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Regarding the iMT transmission, we can remind you that after releasing the gas pedal, it can disconnect the engine from the transmission, where the car goes into cruise mode.

Production of the new Hyundai i20 will begin in the third quarter of 2023 in Izmit, Turkey. Sales on the Czech market will start on the same date, the first cars should arrive soon.
