The project developed by students and professors from Faculdade SENAI da Paraíba was chosen among the top 10 of 150 higher education institutions in Brazil, which participate in the 1st edition of MECA (Mission, Execution, Communication & Achievement) 2023, a promoted event. and Mitsubishi.

The project “Safety system for the transportation of people in an industrial environment” will be prepared by the students of the course of the Academy of Industrial Operations. And it includes the use of cameras that use artificial intelligence to detect people and prevent the movement of workers in dangerous areas, where conveyors are operating. A system of great importance, because in many cases the worker has problems seeing and hearing to recognize the dangerous situation in the industrial environment.

The proposal was developed by Professor Geovani Bastos Vanderley with students Tenison Freire de Lima, Lyesse de Souza Faria and Victor Gaudencio da Costa and was also supervised by Professor Edvanilson Santos de Oliveira.

Next October, the team will participate in the final stage of the competition, in São Paulo, where they will compete for a modern industrial robot controller that will be available to the institute, as well as new computers for each of the team members.

“This news is of great importance, because with the college receiving modern automation equipment provided by Mitsubishi, professors and students will have the opportunity to work on a large and ambitious project in industrial mechanical engineering, and provide many benefits. on the part of technical knowledge and benefits for society, the environment and industrial production” emphasized Professor Geovani Bastos Vanderley.

These programs allow SENAI to strengthen its relationship with the market and understand the needs of industrial sectors. Along with strengthening the institution’s ability to provide solutions that are compatible with the current and future needs of the industry.

In addition to the Faculty, the Center for Professional Studies of Odilon Ribeiro Coutinho, from SENAI, in João Pessoa was also invited to the competition, qualification at the state stage, and the development of a system for monitoring and adjusting the power factor in real time. sector.

MECA has a competition between higher education and technical institutions in the areas of Engineering, Industrial Operations and related areas, where student teams participate through innovative projects and innovative applications using the company’s products in their operations.

In this first edition in Brazil, the competition counts only for the participation of invited teaching institutions, which will develop a project under the theme of ‘Innovative Solutions for Industrial Operations in Brazil’.
