His cooperation Aston Martin with Honda for its engines System 1 from 2026 will not affect his relationship with Mercedes in street carsaccording to Martin Whitmarsh, Group CEO for performance technology. Mercedes-Benz owns around 9.7% of the British sports car manufacturer.
Mercedes is also currently the engine supplier for the Formula 1 team. The Silverstone-based F1 team is different from a car company for that road, but it is owned by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, whose Yew Tree venture is major shareholder of Aston Martin Lagonda.

“Aston Martin Lagonda is a public company, one of its shareholders is Mercedes-Benz and a large percentage of the power units of road vehicles are from Mercedes-Benz”Whitmarsh told reporters and noted, “This is scheduled to continue”.

“We are only focused on racing activities and have chosen to work with Honda,” said Whitmarsh and added, “We will be fully focused on winning Formula 1 as Honda and Aston Martin Lagonda continue to develop its strategy.”
