The amazing Chinese pickup truck that gave birth to the Fiat Titano

Fiat Titano, nice to meet you. Already confirmed by Stellantis for the second half of this year, it was already announced for Brazil at the end of 2020, even before the merger between the former FCA (Fiat-Chrysler) and PSA (Peugeot-Citroën). In this case, it will be launched as Peugeot Landtrek.

It is like the Peugeot Landtrek that this image is already creating other markets in Latin America, it is sold from the CKD meeting in Montevideo (Uruguay), in the Nordex factory. However, due to the strength and reputation of the Fiat brand in the image segment in Brazil, Stellantis decided to take another route in the Brazilian market, changing the insignia of the model.

Changan Kaicene F70

However, Titano and Landtrek are both daughters of another project, Changan Kaicene F70, which shows the opening image of this article and is also known as Changan F70 or Changan F70 Hunter. Take a look at the unit and notice how the entire work of the Landtrek and Titano is similar to its Chinese mother, including the front and rear lights. Only the grid structure changes.

Launched in 2019, the Kaicene F70 was developed by Changan in collaboration with PSA of the time, which explains the fact that it recently acquired a twin sister with the Peugeot logo. All this before the emergence of Stellantis.

Coming back to the F70, it is produced in no less than six countries. In addition to China and Uruguay, there are gatherings in four African countries: Tunisia, Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya.

What will the Fiat Titano be?

In the configuration chosen for Brazil, the standard double cab, the Fiat Titano should measure 5,330 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, 3,180 mm between the wheelbases and 1,858 mm in height. In comparison, it is 1.5 cm, 10.8 cm, 9.5 cm and 2 cm more than the Hilux in the respective dimensions.

The Titano will also have 29 degrees of approach angle, 25 degrees of ramp change and 27 degrees of departure, as well as 600 mm of maximum immersion, up to 42 degrees of lateral inclination and up to 3 tons of towing capacity. . The declared load capacity in other countries is 1.2 tons. Therefore, it will have a greater load capacity in the section.

In the teaser released recently by Stellantis, important details such as the grille finished in gloss black, LED headlights, chrome finishes, roof rack, Santantonio and the front camera, which shows a 360º vision system, are already have been seen. The interior finish should follow the same Landtrek standard, which by the way is the same as the Kaicene F70.

As for the engine, when preparing for our market as Peugeot, the Landtrek would be sold with a 2.0 BlueHDi with 181 hp and 40.8 kgfm of torque with a six-speed automatic transmission and 4×4 traction.

Meanwhile, the Kaicene F70 and the Landtrek itself offered in other Latin American markets offered the option of a 1.9 or 2.5 turbo diesel, both with more than 150 hp. But all the options were given little to the current reality of the part.

Now, the Fiat-branded pickup is expected to put under the hood a 2.2 MultiJet II engine with 203 hp and 44.9 kgfm. The exchange, in this case, could be a nine-speed ZF.

Stellantis has not announced where the pickup will come from, but currently the Peugeot Landtrek is assembled by Nordex in Montevideo (Uruguay). However, plans have already been announced to prepare it in Córdoba (Argentina). It is from there that it must be ordered.
