Stellantis and Ample have signed a binding agreement to collaborate on the best technology for charging electric vehicle batteries. The agreement provides for the integration of solutions Seasonal Battery Exchange in Enoughallowing owners to replace flat batteries at special exchange stations.
Test plan iwill start in 2024, with a fleet of 100 Fiat 500e as part of Stellantis’ Free2move car sharing service. Ample technology offers the possibility to change the battery quickly and efficiently, helping to eliminate the worry of charging (although it seems that the worry of autonomy is a problem that tends to change over time).
Ample’s modular batteries enable rapid installation in public areas, providing a robust infrastructure for the first time. The solution is designed to reduce the lifetime of electric vehicles and provide an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional fuel. The technology will be available to customers by registering.
The agreement reflects Stellantis’ commitment to full electrification by 2030, with the goal of achieving 100% of electric vehicle sales in Europe and 50% in the United States by then (due to commitments made by the company through Dare Forward 2030). The goal will be to ensure approximately 400 GWh of individual battery capacity.
