Unlike in the United States, where large trucks need to fulfill everything from being a work vehicle to being a bed instead of a Mercedes-Benz, here in Brazil their sole purpose is to serve as a luxury vehicle. Proof of this is that Ford brought the F-150 in the Platinum version and now RAM strengthens the team with the 1500 Limited.
Starting at R$ 529,990 in the chrome variant and at R$ 539,990 in the Nigth Edition, it is more expensive than the Ford rival, which costs R$ 509,990. But what else costs R$ 20,000 more than the best-selling pickup truck in the world? Well, the thing that made a negligible difference in the run is already fair: the air suspension.
And that is what changes the game completely. The RAM 1500 Limited doesn’t jump like the average truck would, plus it’s more manageable and comfortable. As Stellantis’ proposal is to make the truck take over the garage where the German sedan used to park, this extra dose of comfort is more than welcome.
The upside is that the steering is more than what would be needed in terms of lightness. Slightly firmer handling at higher speeds would be welcome to convey more confidence behind the wheel. However, when driving, this featherweight is needed to park this truck.
bucket muscle car
Under the big hood we have the same big engine: 5.7 HEMI V8 with 400 hp and 56.7 kgfm of torque. It is the exact same engine as the 1500 Rebel and Classic. In terms of numbers, the RAM 1500 Limited is tied for torque with the Ford F-150 and loses 5 hp. But delivery is different.
In the Stellantis model, the V8 engine roars more and more, as if it was meant to be a muscle car with buckets. The F-150 already does the opposite, making it seem like a fluke that it has the same V8 engine as the Mustang. In RAM, even, the kicks that the V8 gives are more stimulating.
An eight-speed automatic transmission contributes to the sense of refined and sophisticated character that Stellantis wants for his pickup truck. The change is very smooth and not noticeable. But there is less delay during wake-up and less amount of gears needed.

the front porch
In terms of interior quality, Stellantis certainly doesn’t play close. The RAM 1500 Limited has leather on all corners of the dashboard and doors. The equipment is well made and the materials used are of good quality. That is why even the group is trying to force the bar by saying that RAM is the first brand. For Limited you might even consider agreeing.
The leather covering the seats and steering wheel is a true luxury brand quality – probably borrowed from Alfa Romeo. There are seams and reliefs reminiscent of cowboy boots, as well as elements of wood and dark metal. It’s a luxurious, refined cabin that owes nothing to BMW.
In the second row, there is more space than most studios in São Paulo. Legs are spread out in that large area to the back of the front seats. There are cup holders in each corner, individual adjustment of the climate in the back, as well as the possibility to sit on the seat to ensure more comfort.
As a bonus, a large sunroof with 1m² of glazed area – I’d say it’s more spacious than most cabins in São Paulo… There’s also heating for the rear and front seats, with only the front seat receiving cooling. It should also be noted the presence of several niches for things, including large ones on the floor.
In the bucket, the RAM 1500 Limited comes with a practical RAM Box that allows you to store wet or rainproof items in two fully enclosed spaces. The bucket lid can be opened in the traditional way or in the Fiat Toro way, and the lid is divided into two parts with a side opening.
decision
The RAM 1500 Limited is as luxurious as the brand’s premium cars, setting a new level of refinement in the category, but also a luxury to drive. The air suspension has done wonders for the truck, which is much more pleasant to drive and in hand.
But there is a relevant question: the price. At R$ 529,990, it is more expensive than its older sisters 2500 and 3500. And with great difficulty, for the truck driver, which has a gasoline engine. Despite a really good product, it’s hard to justify paying more for a small gas truck with two equally refined diesel guzzlers.
