O Pirelli P Zero was the tire chosen by Polestar for its new limited edition: the Polestar 2 BST 270 edition. Pirelli responded to the manufacturer’s needs with the P Zero Elect tire, with a high load index, with the HL symbol on the side.
For the highest performance version of the Polestar 2 to date, the UHP in 245/35R21 measures was designed to match the car’s special characteristics: electric speed and sporty character.
Pirelli’s Elect rating indicates that the technology in this P Zero tire has been developed to meet the unique characteristics of battery-powered cars such as the Polestar 2 BST version 270. The tread compounds are specially designed to handle the 680 Nm of torque applied to the tire from start, providing immediate grip and reduced wear caused by tire slippage.
Low levels of rolling resistance increase the life of the battery and therefore increase the range of the car battery, while the reinforced structure ensures that the maximum weight of the battery can be supported. The noise produced while driving is also reduced as much as possible so as not to affect the quietness of these cars, thanks also to Pirelli’s Noise Canceling System (PNCS) technology, which, with the inclusion of a sound-absorbing sponge, further reduces it. continuous noise..
The original equipment developed for the 270 Polestar 2 BST edition is a new milestone in Pirelli’s collaboration with the Swedish pure electric car manufacturer. The Polestar 1, the original car in the range, comes with the P Zero as original equipment and was one of the first cars to be fitted with Pirelli’s Elect-branded tyres. Thanks to modern virtual design techniques that simplify and accelerate development processes, these two brands continue to collaborate on new future projects.
HL Marking for High Loads
The HL (high load) mark on the sidewall of the P Zero designed for the new Polestar 2 BST 270 shows that the tire is able to support the high weight of the vehicle and ensures a high level of comfort even when exposed to great stress. as it happens, for example, when driving a sports car. Specifically, the HL-branded P Zero can handle 20% more volume than a standard tire, and 9% more than an XL tire of the same dimensions.
Electrical Performance for Drivers
The Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 was created by Polestar as a slightly higher performance version of the Polestar 2. Only 270 units will be produced for the European and North American markets. In addition to the 21-inch P Zero tires, the 270 Polestar 2 BST version has adjustable springs, lowered suspension, high-performance brakes, stabilizer bar and an output of 350 kW and 680Nm.
