China’s Nio, which has been close to bankruptcy in recent years, continues to show that it is back in the electric car fray. After the ET7 sedan, the brand is now launching the second generation ES6 SUV. In China, the model will cost the equivalent of up to R$ 300,000, in direct exchange.
The ES6 has been Nio’s flagship. Still in its first generation, which was presented in 2018, the SUV represented around 64% of the brand’s sales in 2020, 45% in 2021 and 46% in 2022, according to CnEPPost.
The new generation ES6 (which will be called EL6 in Europe, to avoid conflicts with Audi), maintains the identity of the previous model, with different headlight assemblies. Now, it follows in the footsteps of the ET7 sedan with smoother, more rounded lines and volume for less air resistance. The headlights are full of LEDs.
The rear follows the international trend of solid rear lights, which go from one side to the other, past the trunk lid. Despite being treated in China as a small SUV, the ES6 is larger than the Jeep Commander. It is 4.85 meters long, 1.99 meters wide and 1.70 meters tall.
Inside, the electric SUV promises a quality and “very high” finish, and has no buttons to make the look cleaner. In addition, the passenger seat almost turns into a bed, reclining 160 degrees and raising the leg.

The model has two engines, front 204 hp and rear 285 hp. Together, they reach 489 horsepower. Nio promises that the ES6 accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 5 seconds.
Two versions of the battery will be offered: one with 75 kWh, with an estimated range of 490 km, and one with 100 kWh, with an estimated range of 625 km. The manufacturer has already announced a third version of the battery, 150 kWh, promising up to 930 km of range various.
