New Mitsubishi Colt 2022-2023, the long-awaited city car based on Renault Clio is coming soon.

Mitsubishi is ready to launch a new generation of Colt on the market, expected in Europe from 2023. According to Renault Clio CMF-B platform, will also be released in a hybrid version and produced in Turkey. There is nothing unusual in this company as the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance has decided to increase cooperation to reduce production costs. Let’s take a closer look:

How does the new Mitsubishi Colt 2022-2023 change?

After launching the teaser image of next ASX, Mitsubishi announces it will be its second model produced by Renault in Europe from 2023. It is the new Colt. Thus, the seventh generation of the city car will be launched nine years after its predecessor was discontinued and 61 years after the first car.

Like the ASX, it will have things in common with Renault Captur, the future Mitsubishi Colt will be based on the CMF-B platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. So it will be technically close to Renault Clio. Its sale will follow the final modification. Mitsubishi is announcing a hybrid engine, which could be the 1.6-liter E-Tech engine offered in the Clio. The Colt won’t replace the Space Star right away, but it will position itself first among the SUVs in the lineup.

It won’t just be a facelifted Clio. Of course, the overall silhouettes of Colt and Clio will undoubtedly remain very close and the Japanese will take control of Handles hidden French rear doors. But it will have a futuristic light signature on either side of the anvil-shaped grille. Mitsubishi Colt will be manufactured in Bursa, Turkey along with Renault Clio.

Mitsubishi Colt 2022-2023 more than Renault Clio

The new Colt will distinguish itself from the Clio with the introduction of special rims and chrome monograms on the doors, in particular 140hp hybrid block who will prepare it. Again, this engine will come 100% from the Clio parts bank, in the same way as other internal combustion engines. It remains to be seen if the budget allocated to Mitsubishi’s future city car will allow it to change. As for the passenger compartment, only the steering wheel should benefit from a new design to show that it belongs to the Mitsubishi family.

The bonnet piece should retain the original recess positioned to accommodate the Mitsubishi logo. On the contrary, the grille will expand and should rise towards the very narrow daytime running lights, the main optics are probably placed at the bottom of the shield as usual in the production of the Japanese company.

Launched in 2023, the new Mitsubishi Colt will go on sale at a lower price than those of Clio hoping to capture a share of the market, also with the goal of distinguishing itself. For this reason, a base price of less than 15,000 euros is expected.
