The Hyundai-Kia Group may soon strengthen its cooperation with CATL with the aim of increasing the variety of its future electric vehicles. The confirmation comes from a South Korean newspaper Chosun Biz.

Chung Eui-jua – president of Hyundai Motor Group – would meet Zeng Yuquan – CEO of CATL – in South Korea in recent weeks to strengthen the relationship between the two companies, which started in 2021.

According to local media reports, up to 140,000 electric cars of Hyundai and Kia they will have new batteries from next year. The new Qilins developed by the Chinese giant, using the third generation of cell-to-pack (CTP) technology, would improve energy density, simplify production at the same time and reduce costs. Additionally, the new EVs will be able to provide afreedom up to 1000 km for one payment.

Qilin’s new batteries can be fitted to new Hyundai and Kia vehicles destined for Europe and the domestic market. We’ll just have to wait for the next few weeks to see if more information emerges.
