More bus routes to Eresos are requested

In a letter to the Intercity Buses of Lesvos, the Environmental and Social Association “Eresos Initiative” requests that the public service to and from Eresos be made from Mesotopos road, that there be a route from the beginning of May and Sunday, there will be a faster route to Mytilini-Eresos at least Friday Sunday with a minibus route running the route Eresos – Skala Eresos.

Services through Mesotopos

Currently KTEL Lesvos operates 2 routes to and from West Lesvos. One of the “lower” roads that passes from Parakoila – Agra and ends in Mesotopos. And one of the “top” roads passing through Filia – Skalochori – Vatoussa, arrives at Antissa where passengers are separated from other vehicles to continue to Sigri and Eresos respectively.

What we suggest is that the “down” road continues and ends at Eresos. And parallel north to continue and finish in Sigri. We inform you that 95% of the people associated with Eresos use the Mesotopos road. Also, this route will be shorter as there will be no need to stop and change cars as it is today in Antissa, while we believe that KTEL Lesvos also benefits as it will require 2 cars to make the journey north and south respectively, from 4 he wants with the existing structure and stock of his customers and an additional facility in Antissa. Finally, passengers to Eresos will enjoy a better route from the lower road, while in the same way, Sigri passengers will also benefit as they will arrive earlier.

Schedule on Sundays

We recommend entering the route on Sundays from May and not early July to support the tourist season. In May and June there are many students and young people of Mytilene who visit Eresos fanatically, or know it well as a destination. But most of them have no way. The Sunday route favors our community as all these people will be able to organize a three-day trip to come to Eresos with the existing route on Sunday. Although this will be announced correctly, we believe that it will also bring benefits to KTEL Lesvos, which is not happening today.

Express line for Ereso

As it is known, Eresos is one of the top 3 tourist attractions on the island. Eresos Beach is the island’s #1 internationally recognized beach and welcomes thousands of tourists every year. Therefore we propose to establish a direct line that will run the route Mytilini – Eresos. And we believe that if it enters Friday morning or noon to Eresos and Sunday afternoon to evening back to Mytilini, that again both sides will win. And our community together with KTEL Lesvos.

Eresos minibus – Skala Eresos route

In conclusion, we request that the daily Eresou to Skala Eresou route be extended with a minibus. This is our most important request. There is a great need for such a service with KTEL Lesvos, while we believe that this is a profitable line for KTEL that has not been tested so far. The reason is as follows.

A) The Eresou pharmacy no longer moves to Skala Eresou like it used to. As a result, the population of Skala Eresos, which for about 1.5 months in consideration reaches perhaps even 2 thousand, cannot be served. From the elderly to buy their medicine to sick or injured citizens need to be transported to Eresso to find a pharmacy. This schedule covers this large part of the world.

B) Small farming schedules in Skala and Eresos. Two of our rural residents are not in the doctor’s office every day because of shortages in the NHS. Using the proposed method, people will be able to be served by rural Eresos when others in Skala are not and vice versa.

C) Food workers and the elderly.

Most of the employees who work at Skala Eresos live in Eresos. So are many elders. Most of them do not have a private car. The recommended line will be able to be used every day and this world too.

D) Tourists.

Although most tourists live in Skala Eresos, there are also tourists who stay in accommodation in Eresos. This line will help these people move around in both habitats. At the same time, Eresou shops will be able to be visited by Skala Eresou tourists.

Based on all the above, we inform you that there is a great need for the above proposal, but we also believe that this proposal is beneficial and will be very beneficial for KTEL Lesvos as well.
