TEMPO Co, Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan came back to sneer at the car electrification plan.
For this reason, Luhut asked the critics of the electric car plan to see the whole thing, not in parts.
“Right now what we are building is an ecosystem to work. For whoever succeeds him to strengthen it, this is not good yet, this is not good, but the direction is the same,” he said through his personal Instagram account, quoted by Tempo. Saturday, May 27, 2023.
According to Luhut, this person does not fully see the plan implemented by the government, in other words piecemeal.
“I like to be defined when someone comes to me and says electric cars (EV) is not important, (I said) it is important,” Luhut said.
Luhut’s statement was given to 20 Indonesian students who participated in the first phase of the Biomedical and Genomics Workshop program at the Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI) in Shenzhen. China. This activity is a marine research collaboration between Indonesia and BGI China.
According to Luhut, electric cars (EV) or electric vehicles can reduce the consumption of energy imports in Indonesia, which currently amounts to 35 billion US dollars or the equivalent of Rp. 525.3 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 15,008) per year.
