BACKGROUND AND COLOR

About the Bricklin SV1 and Bricklin 3EV: one name, two centuries.

Bricklin SV1

Malcolm Bricklin

launched the Bricklin SV1 X two-seater sports car in 1974.

The car represented a bold departure from the lineup—a bold attempt to redefine the concept of a sports car. Written by a famous car designer

Bricklin SV1 design combined with performance and safety.

“It’s a sports car because it looks like one … with a low center of gravity so it’s fun to drive … but the idea behind it was, safety doesn’t have to be bad, number one … and that’s what the SV1 is all about: One Safety Vehicle.

Bricklin used standards ahead of those required by the US government in the 1970s, including exceeding US safety standards for crash protection.

The SV1 protected occupants with a tubular steel frame, roll cage, high-speed impact chassis without deflection, and energy-absorbing bumpers. The car did not include a cigarette lighter or ashtray, as Bricklin considered it unsafe to smoke while driving.
