How the collaboration with Ice Spice on the ‘Karma’ remix came about

“She’s my new favorite artist,” Taylor Swift says of Ice Spice.

No one is more excited to feature Ice Spice on the new ‘Karma’ remix than Taylor Swift.

In an audio clip released by Spotify, Taylor Swift spoke about up-and-coming rapper Ice Spice and explained how their collaboration, included on the deluxe edition of her ‘Midnights’ album, came about.

“Working with Ice Spice on ‘Karma’ was one of those natural things,” Taylor Swift said in the audio clip, posted on Spotify’s official Twitter account.

“He reached out to me through his team, like, ‘Hey, Ice’s been a big fan of Taylor since he was a little kid, he’d love to work together if that’s something that could happen,'” he explained.

As it turned out, the feelings between Taylor Swift and Ice Spice were mutual.

“I’ve been listening to it non-stop, when I’m preparing for my tour, I’m always listening to Ice Spice,” the singer revealed.

“So I immediately called him and said, ‘Hey, do you want to do your own version of ‘Karma’? Are you into this song?” So he threw himself into work,” he continued.

“Meeting him was very special, because he has impressed me. He is – in my opinion – the one to watch,” he said.

“Just looking at his work ethic and the way he thinks about his work — he’s my new favorite artist and I’m so honored to have him on the track. So, yeah, what a thrill!” he added.

The remix of ‘Karma’ is included on Taylor Swift’s new album ‘Midnights’ which was released on Friday 26th May.

Ice Spice also called Taylor Swift “the sweetest person” after the remix was announced, and on Friday posted an adorable photo of the pop singer in the studio to her Instagram Stories.

The ‘Karma’ remix is the latest addition to a long line of high-profile collaborations that Ice Spice has done recently.

In February, Ice Spice went viral with his appearance on ‘Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2” by PinkPantheress.

He then teamed up with Nicki Minaj on a remix of her own song “Princess Diana,” and last week Katy Perry expressed interest in working with the “Munch” rapper during an interview with Buzzfeed.
