how cars interfered with Collor’s political life

He was sentenced last Thursday (25) and stf (Federal Supreme Court) for corruption and money laundering, former president Fernando Collor he has cars associated with troubled times in his political career.

In 1992, Fiat Elba registered in the name of the then President of the Republic had a decision in the impeachment process which culminated in his resignation at the end of that year.

In addition, luxury cars of the company that has Collor as a partner were arrested by the Federal Police in 2015, at the behest of the STF, as a result of Operation Lava Jato.

At the time, it was suspected that the cars – a 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia, a 2014 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster and a 2012 Porsche Panamera – were the proceeds of crime.

The cars were returned a few months later, the same year, by the High Court’s own decision – on the condition that they were not sold.

UOL Cars found out that the vehicles previously seized are not part of the recent sentence of Fernando Collor, whose sentence will be explained next Wednesday (31), and will still be in the jurisdiction of the former president and former senator.

In January of last year, we reported that one of the repossessed cars, a 2014 Aventador Roadster, was among the five most indebted IPVA vehicles in the state of São Paulo.

A short time ago, the company Água Branca Participações, which has the registration of the Lamborghini and other cars of the politician, entered into an agreement with the PGE-SP (General Attorney of the State of São Paulo) to pay in 60 installments a little more than 1.5 million shillings in debt related to IPVA. The first installment, in the amount of approximately R$62,000, has already been paid.

PGR-SP informs that the phase is guaranteed by the attachment of Lamborghini, as well as Bentley and Rolls-Royce.

We can say that the 1991 Fiat Elba Weekend was the car that changed the country’s destiny. In 1992, an investigation showed that a car owned by then President Collor was bought with money from the fictitious accounts of PC Farias, the treasurer of the presidential campaign in 1989.

The truth was decisive in the process of impeaching the Chief Executive, who decided to resign in an unsuccessful attempt to preserve his political rights.

But what would be the fate of this car that played an important role in the history of Brazil? O UOL Cars he followed the whereabouts of Collor’s Elba and found that his ending was not a happy one.

We found out that Elba is still registered in the name of the politician, who today has no power – until February, he was a PTB senator and tried to be elected to the government of Alagoas in 2022, without success.

Surprisingly, however, Collor canceled Elba’s script. That is: the car is no longer authorized to be driven on public roads and may even be scrap metal.

Our report questioned the then senator’s advice, in September 2020, about the car’s whereabouts, but received no response.

Before his final destination, Elba de Collor appeared in photos that circulated on social networks a few years ago. In one of the photos, it seems already completely damaged, in an unknown location and with a gray plaque – originally, it was painted with a yellow pattern.

Collor himself, in a conversation with followers on his Twitter account, has already spoken about the car:

In the same conversation, another netizen asked if Collor had a picture with the car and he said no, suggesting to look for pictures on the Internet.

Now at the age of 73, the former president also said that “no” to the desire for a car that contributed to the loss of his office.
