London-headquartered About:Energy, a battery measurement and simulation startup has appointed Thierry Bollore to its Board. In his new role as Director he will be responsible for developing the About:Energy strategy for vehicles and partnerships.

The startup addresses EV battery development using high-quality data to accelerate its customers’ strategic decision-making across the supply chain from cell selection to end-of-life analysis. Its software platform ‘The Voltt’ allows customers to supercharge their in-house battery development software by reducing development costs while also seamlessly integrating with existing development software that significantly reduces time to market.
Founded in 2021, About:Energy says its client portfolio already includes several of the world’s leading automotive companies. It is a spinout from Imperial College London and the University of Birmingham where the founders completed their PhDs.
Gavin White, Co-Founder and CEO, About:Energy said: “Batteries are critical to industries such as automotive, manufacturing and aerospace, but are often considered a bottleneck due to the time and cost of development. Using advanced technologies testing, our system can significantly reduce development costs and shorten time to market for advanced integrated designs. We are very pleased to welcome Thierry to our Board – his experience, reliability and industry knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to add and to support the growing number of customers.”
Thierry Bollore added: “Our industry is entering an important phase of its transition to electrification with battery design playing a more important role in every OEM’s future manufacturing strategy. In just 18 months, About:Energy has made remarkable progress with its pioneering approach attracting investment, research grants and securing key OEMs as customers. I believe that as demand for batteries continues to grow, About:Energy is well positioned to add to the industry and I am delighted to be joining the Board at this important time.”
