Ford is quietly unveiling the next generation of CarPlay before WWDC even starts

Apple announced a complete overhaul of the CarPlay system at last year’s WWDC, which features “deeper integration with in-car hardware that lets you set your car’s radio or change your temperature without leaving CarPlay.” And if you want it, the luxury 2024 Lincoln Nautilus could be the first car to feature the new system.

Unveiled at the end of April, the Nautilus 2024 features a “reimagined digital experience” thanks to a widescreen that covers the cabin, from the driver’s side to the passenger’s side.

This extra wide screen can be customized to meet the driver’s needs and is integrated with a state-of-the-art experience called Rejuvenate with special lighting effects, massage seats and even programmed digital fragrances.

Forget digital perfume for a second (if you can). Does this screen look familiar? It looks similar to Apple’s display during WWDC 2022, a resemblance that a Ford spokesperson admitted was “tricky” – before refusing to say anything more. When asked to confirm the connection between Nautilus and Apple’s next-generation CarPlay system, Apple pointed us to the company’s June 2022 Press release.
