We finally got to take a closer look at the new QX60 and some of its much-deserved updates. The revamp comes at a time when three-row luxury SUVs are on the rise to meet the needs of large families looking for refinement, but who are looking for a certain level of driving pleasure behind the wheel of their large utility vehicle. The QX60 is Infiniti’s flagship product in its North American lineup. Needless to say, there is little room for error.

What’s new on the 2022 QX60?

The QX60 has said goodbye to its aging appearance and returns completely redesigned, trying to recreate the QX60 Monograph concept launched last year. While the front remains recognizable and retains certain shapes and elements of the outgoing model, the rear takes things a step further with a new taillight design, in particular. The QX60 can now be ordered with a black roof.

Inside, the QX60 still offers room for seven passengers. But according to the manufacturer, passengers in the second and third rows benefit from more space. As for cargo volume, the QX60 can now carry 1,178 liters behind the second row. There’s also a total of 54.1 liters of underfloor cargo, almost double that of the outgoing model.

The passenger compartment has gone through the scalpel. The one that looked straight out of the early 2000s is now more streamlined and clean using a completely different set of textures. A new 12.3-inch screen has been added to the dashboard, which is standard on all models. The system is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging, Wi-Fi hotspot and a new digital instrument cluster are among the technology improvements.

The QX60 now has an improved ProPILOT Assist and Navi Link system. Recently introduced in the new Nissan Rogue, this driver assistance system now combines data from the navigation system with that from sensors to make its operation more natural.

Under the hood, the Infiniti QX60 retains the proven 3.5-liter V6 engine. However, it eventually ditched the anemic continuously variable transmission and adopted a 9-speed automatic. This powertrain produces 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque and can tow up to 6,000 pounds, 1,000 more than the outgoing QX60.

What is the price of the 2022 Infiniti QX60?

The QX60 family is made up of four versions. Here is the price for each version:

  • CLEAN $54,995
  • LUXURY IT $59,495
  • SENSOR AWD $64,995
  • TI AUTOGRAPH $67,995

When will the 2022 Infiniti QX60 hit the market?

The QX60 will enter the North American market later this fall.

What? Who will the 2022 Infiniti QX60 compete with?

The Infiniti QX60 will compete with the Volvo XC90, Cadillac XT6, Genesis GV80 and other two- and three-row mid-size luxury SUVs.

What do we think of the 2022 Infiniti QX60?

The QX60 stands out from the pack in terms of looks – it’s always been that way for Infiniti. The redesign is refreshing and features a mix of Range Rover design cues as well as touches steeped in Japanese culture that will give it a more serious edge over the German competition that uses the same engine over and over again (but who can blame, the engine. it works!)

A proper test of the QX60 on the road will tell us more, as well as being able to measure all that the new interior has to offer in terms of technology and ergonomics. What we know at the time of this writing is that although the manufacturer advertises more space in the third row, it still feels cramped there.

With the QX50 not being as popular as Infiniti would have hoped, and the QX55 doing almost the same, hopes are now on the QX60. But is the redesign, new transmission and good price enough to keep up with the big dogs in the segment? While improvements over the outgoing QX60 are nothing short of impressive, the QX60 will have to bring more driving dynamics if it’s to compete. And we will be happy to evaluate this particular feature soon.
