The beginning of the championship is not good for Alpine, the team that made a difference in last season’s campaigns by taking fourth place in the constructors’ championship and beating McLaren, today it is in sixth place with 14 points.
After poor results in the first five rounds of the competition, chief executive Laurent Rossi described the team’s performance as “unacceptable” and “uncivilized”, and revealed that if the situation did not change, more drastic measures would be taken.
In a press conference in front of the Monaco doctor, Gasly was asked how the situation is in the French team. “I think we all share the same goals within the team,” he replied.
“We all want to see the team fight at the top and fight for a better position than we have done so far. Everyone is doing their best”, continued the pilot.
“We had a slower start than we would have liked and wanted. But for now, we just need to keep our heads down and continue weekend after weekend. Continue and look for more performance in the next two weekends,” added the Frenchman.
“I think we are not behind Ferrari and Mercedes in front of us. We definitely have the potential. We need to use a little more of the package we have. We have small changes coming, I hope this can reduce the gap to these teams.”
