Aston Martin has shown again that it is a force in the 2023 season of Formula 1. At the end of the two free practice sessions on Friday in Monaco, Fernando Alonso finished the day with P4 among the drivers, while Lance Stroll was P11.
The team’s drivers commented on Friday’s performance on the streets of Monte Carlo.
Alonso: “We did enough laps today and we were able to understand our car well here in Monaco. It was important to find a good rhythm at the beginning of this week and avoid problems. In both sessions the car handled well and was easy to drive, which helps at this circuit. There will be a lot of ups and downs for everyone this year, so we have to be ready to deliver every weekend. In some race weekends we will be faster than our rivals and in others it may be different, but I am looking forward to tomorrow’s qualifying session.”
Stroll: “Every lap was important in practice today. It’s a very short session in Monaco and it’s always difficult to put everything together, but we did some good laps today and we learned a lot. The AMR23 is working well here, so tonight we will focus on fixing a few things the last one. The track has been tough all year so getting everything right for qualifying will be important. We’ll keep working on the car tonight and see what we can do tomorrow.”
