Electric Opel Astra has a Peugeot base, a Jeep engine and a range of 416 km

One of the cars that Brazilians miss the most has just been launched electronic version not released. We are talking about astraa mid-size hatch that was sold in Brazil between 1994 and 2011 and Chevroletbut which in Europe has a brand Opel. The model arrives at European dealers in hatchback and station wagon versions in early 2023.

A new generation of astra launched in Europe in mid-2021, initially in hybrid and plug-in versions. The arrival of the Astra Electric completes the range, which now covers all power levels.

Astra is built on the common EMP2 platform, similar to Peugeot e-2008 which has just been launched in Brazil. The styling is basically the same as the regular version, with LED headlights inserted into the front grille for a sharper look.

The rear view of the European Astra is the same for both versions. The only difference is the length, because the hatch is 4.37 m and the van is 4.64 m. The trunk capacity is 422 liters and 548 liters respectively.

The boxy and horizontal styling of the body is also seen inside, where the Astra has a 10-inch multimedia center with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It’s worth highlighting large multifunctional steering wheel and digital instrument panel.

The main feature is an electric motor that can drive 156 hp of strength and 27.5 kgfm of torque. The thruster uses a 54 kWh battery pack. It is the same set that prepares the new Jeep Avenger, which was presented in November at the Salon de Paris (France).

Freedom declared is 416 kilometers. According to Stellantis, the owner of Opel, in the fast charging category, the Astra can recover 80% of its charge in just 30 minutes.

Astra Electric can now be ordered in European stores or on Opelbut the first delivery should take place only in the first three months of 2023. Prices were not disclosed.
