And here we go, to the new DTM ERA – Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (German Touring Championship). For this year, with the closure of ITR (until then the promoter of the category) and ADAC (German Automobile Club) taking over the responsibility of the category, the 2023 calendar was created in the best possible way to avoid conflicts with Formula 1, Formula E, GT World Challenge Europe and 24 Hours of Nurburgring. In addition, the category ended up highlighting its origins and will only have 2 races outside of Germany (Netherlands and Austria). Therefore, we will have important absences such as Portimão/Portugal, Imola/Italy and Spa-Francorchamps/Belgium. As for Felipe Fraga, our representative in the 2022 category, we still have no official information about his participation this year, but initially he will not be there and will focus on his return to STOCK CAR and some IMSA races.
for the first step, this weekend (26 to 28/05/2023), the division returns to the HISTORICAL STAGE, which was not on the division calendar for 8 long years. We are talking about the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (in the region of Magdeburger Borde), a circuit 3667 meters long, with 14 curves, and a winding layout that requires a high concentration from the drivers. The last winners were Timo Glock and Tom Blomqvist, in the 2015 race.
And speaking of drivers, for the new season we will have 14 teams, with drivers from eleven countries and the participation of six factories: Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche. Important names such as Sheldon van der Linde (current champion), René Rast, Lucas Auer, Maro Engel and Marco Wittmann are still on the grid. We will have nine first-team players, including 20-year-old Thierry Vermeulen and 21-year-old Owega.
