GridOto.com – Renault Group announces that Cyril Abiteboul has left the Alpine F1 team.

As previously reported, Davide Brivio chose to leave the Suzuki Ecstar MotoGP team to become the new boss of the Alpine team, which was previously called the Renault team.

The example of Davide Brivio who was successful in MotoGP is considered the most suitable person to coach the Alpine team.

Meanwhile, Cyril Abiteboul was not fired, but was scheduled to fill another top position.

Cyril Abiteboul was expected to enter senior management at Alpine.

But somehow, Abiteboul instead chose to part ways with the Renault manufacturer.

“I want to thank the Renault Group for believing in me over the years, especially during the return and construction of the team since 2016,” said Abiteboul as quoted by GridOto.com from Crash.net.

“Strong foundations in team racing between France and England have been built in recent years. The strategic evolution in this sport has become an economic model and recently there is an Alpine project that shows a renewal of ideas and industrial trends, everything is going well . direction,” he explained.

Abiteboul started working at the Renault F1 team in 2007 and then became CEO in 2010 and team principal at the Caterham team in 2012.

After the team went bankrupt in 2014, Abiteboul was instrumental in Renault’s comeback.

Slowly Renault climbed from 2016, 2017, to 2018 won the fourth place in the constructors’ standings.





Renault then finished fifth in 2019 and 2020, while in 2020 Renault team drivers scored 3 podiums.
