Check out the new Hyundai Kona Electric

Hyundai recently presented the new generation of the Kona electric version. The Korean SUV enters the second generation and as announced, apart from the design changes, it will have larger dimensions, more power and greater freedom. The length has increased by 175 millimeters from its predecessor to reach 4.35 meters, while it is wider by 25 millimeters (1.82 meters) and longer by 20 millimeters (1.57 meters). At the same time, the wheelbase has increased by 60 millimeters, reaching a total of 2.66 meters.

In front, as expected, the grille is closed, while there are thin LED lights, which have a line from one end to the other, which are illuminated. The design on the sides is reminiscent of something from the Tucson, while at the back there are also very thin LED light bodies, which are also connected by a thin line that is also illuminated. The remaining trunk of the lamp bodies is in the wings, while there is also an air vent at the end of the roof.

Inside, everything has changed. The show is stolen by two 12.3” digital screens, one for the instrument panel and one touchscreen for the infotainment system. At the same time, there is also a 12-inch head-up display, so that the driver’s attention is not distracted from the road. Changes have also been made to the new three-spoke steering wheel with controls, while the gear selector is missing. The luggage space reaches 466 liters, while it increases significantly with the folding of the rear seats.

Mechanically, the all-electric Kona has two versions. The basic version has an electric motor and a 48.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, with a maximum power of 156 hp and a maximum torque of 26 kg. In addition, there is a more powerful version, with a 65.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, and the maximum power reaches 218 hp and the maximum torque is here again 26 kg. The maximum range with a full charge reaches 490 km. According to the manufacturer with a fast charger the battery autonomy from 10% to 80% can be done in just 41′ .

The new electric corner will be able to be upgraded through the air, and it also has a Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, which presents new images on the car’s screens. Safety systems include the Hyundai SmartSense assistance system, which features a Driver Status Monitor with a camera to monitor the driver’s face and Remote Smart Parking Assist for entering and exiting a parking space using a remote control. In addition, Forward Collision Avoidance System, Highway Driving Assist 2 semi-autonomous Driving System, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Lane Keeping Assist and Smart Cruise Control are offered.

All of the above makes the new electric Corner, which has more space, more freedom, more power, while it is completely safe, since it has all the latest safety systems. The only problem that anyone who wants to own one may face is the price, because as we have seen in recent days, cars are constantly increasing in price.
