Cars that can be cheap

Cars that can be cheap

Currently, entry-level car models in Brazil cost up to R$120,000. This absurdity, taking into account the average income of the population, is explained by the rise of the dollar and of raw materials. This has led to a 50% increase in production costs since 2020, the study shows.

To make matters worse, during this period, when the industry was hit by a lack of chips, the recession caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and global inflation reduced demand. Automakers, therefore, prioritized the production of the most luxurious models, betting on high profits per unit.

Now, a Volkswagen Saveiro costs around R$ 100,000 (R$ 94,490) and a more basic Fiat Strada, about this amount (R$ 99,990), for example.
