Car Launches & Launches In November 2023: New Versions Of Volkswagen & Skoda Cars, New-gen Renault Duster & Maruti Suzuki Swift Launched, And More

In addition to international displays of upcoming mass-market model updates, we witnessed launches in premium segments from Mercedes-Benz and Lotus.

The busy festive season of 2023 is just around the corner and it’s filled with more motoring activities than some expected, with new cars, special editions and facelifts. The list includes 3 global reveals and special editions of Volkswagen and Skoda cars, while Lotus debuted in India with an electric SUV. Here is a brief summary of all the models launched or launched in the month of November

Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus Special Editions

Volkswagen Taigun and Volkswagen Virtus got special editions in November 2023. Taigun SUV received 2 new editions -Trail and Sound – while Virtus got only Sound edition. The Trail Edition is an off-road-oriented version of the Taigun that only gets cosmetic changes such as body decals, a blacked-out front grille, an all-black interior, and a roof. This special edition SUV is priced the same as the Taigun GT manual variant.

On the other hand, the Taigun and Virtus Audio editions are music-specific special editions offered only with the top 1-litre turbo-petrol variants only. These come with a subwoofer and a custom body design on the C-pillar. Prices for the Audio versions start from Rs 15.52 lakh (ex-showroom India).

Skoda Kushaq & Slavia Elegance Editions

Skoda Kushaq and Slavia Elegance Edition

Skoda has introduced another version of the Kushaq and Slavia, namely the ‘Elegance’ version. This special edition of both the models features a distinctive Deep Black shade on the exterior along with exterior and interior enhancements, at a premium of around Rs 20,000. The Elegance version is based only on the top-spec ‘Style’ variants of both cars, exclusively for their 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine.

New-gen Maruti Swift Launched

2024 Suzuki Swift

Suzuki took the wraps off the new generation Swift in Japan, following a preview of the concept at the Japan Motor Show. The new Suzuki Swift not only gets a refreshed design and a new cabin, but also gets an updated 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. After its global debut, the test-drive of the new Swift was also seen doing the rounds on Indian roads, and is expected to be launched in the first half of 2024.

Renault Duster of the third generation is launched

The third generation Renault Duster made its international debut in its European guise as the Dacia Duster. The new Duster is based on the automaker’s new CMF-B platform, drawing design inspiration from the Dacia Bigster concept. The European-spec Duster offers a range of new powertrain options, including a mild hybrid, powerful hybrid and LPG.

New-gen Skoda Superb Announced Globally

4th generation Skoda Superb

The fourth-generation Skoda Superb had made its global debut with an updated design, an all-new cabin, and a range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel and hybrids. While the sedan has been launched in estate and sedan versions, India will only get the sedan version of the Skoda Superb. Skoda may launch the new Superb in India in June 2024. It is expected to be priced from Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom).

Global Launch of Hyundai Tucson Facelift

The Hyundai Tucson has also undergone a mid-life update and was recently launched globally. The changes include an improved exterior design and an updated cabin. Hyundai has yet to confirm the availability of powertrain options for the facelifted Tucson SUV. The Tucson facelift is expected to debut in European markets first, and its launch in India is expected in the second half of 2024 or early 2025.

Mercedes-AMG C43 Unveiled

The new Mercedes-AMG C43 has been launched in India, but in a more practical 4-door sedan avatar. The new AMG C43 sedan has a downsized engine, but is more powerful than ever thanks to turbocharging technology derived from Formula 1. It is priced at Rs 98 lakh (pan-showroom India).

Mercedes-Benz GLE facelift Launched

Mercedes-Benz GLE facelift

The Mercedes Benz GLE facelift also arrived on Indian shores this month after making its world debut in February 2023. The changes to the GLE facelift are subtle, and feature updated powertrain options. GLE facelift prices range from Rs 96.40 lakh to Rs 1.15 crore (ex-showroom India).

Lotus Eletre SUV Launched

Lotus Eletre Electric SUV

British carmaker Lotus, entered the Indian market with its high-performance electric SUV, the Eletre. It boasts a rugged stance and a sporty interior. The Eletre SUV is priced between Rs 2.55 crore and Rs 2.99 crore. Lotus has launched its first dealership in India in New Delhi.

Volvo EM90 Electric MPV Global Debut

Volvo EM90 MPV front

Volvo entered the luxury MPV space with its new electric MPV, the EM90. The EM90 has a 116 kWh battery pack that can provide a CLTC (China Light duty car Test Cycle) range of 738 km. The EM90 electric MPV will be launched in China first, followed by other international markets.
