Audi Q4 e-tron 40 Sportback: efficiency

Audi Q4 e-tron 40 Sportback: efficiency

Launched a year ago in its classic SUV body, Q4 e-tron since then it has been available in the Sportback coupé version with a more elegant and refined style. And in addition to being more attractive, the Sportback design also brings the best Cd to 0.26, against 0.28 in the SUV. This to some extent improves energy efficiency, several additional kilometers of freedom at least, helping aerodynamics. And the trunk capacity remains adequate at 520 l instead of 535 l in the SUV.

For others, all the electrical technology of the “normal” Q4 is taken, in terms of power and battery size. The level 35 version compares 170 hp with a 52 kWh battery, with a range of 316-349 km (from 46,750 euros including tax). But it is the power of 204 hp tested here on the Q4 Sportback 40 e-tron, still in rear-wheel drive, which will be more in demand by companies, and a 77 kWh battery for 453-526 kilometers of autonomy (from 52,900). euros plus tax). The other two versions, 45 of 265 hp and 55 of 299 hp in Quattro and with a 77 kWh battery, are more than 64,000 euros. In any case, this coupe body needs 2,000 euros more than the SUV.

Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback: fair average use

On the road, we find the dynamic characteristics of the SUV body, which have already been emphasized during our last tests. Silence, good humidity, accuracy of direction and good cheerfulness of character always remain appreciated in everyday life. We could see, once again, that the average consumption (between 18 and 20 kWh/100 m) remained very close to the figures announced by Audi in WLTP. So the autonomy of this version of 40 reaches at least 400 km, regardless of the intended route, that is very good.

Finally, if the quality of manufacturing and the accuracy of the assembly of the cabin components are not met with resistance, the hard and shiny plastic of the storm doors do not show that it is above the German premium claimed by Audi.
