Alonso: Aston Martin is almost a year away from claiming titles

In addition, Fernando Alonso has taken the third step of the podium in all three races, which is a big step for the Silverstone team.

Despite the team’s poor results last year, Alonso decided to leave Alpine and go to Aston Martin. Proud billionaire Lawrence Stroll’s team has a long-term goal of world titles rather than podiums, with team principal Mike Krack revealing that Stroll is pushing the team to greater success and not to be left behind after its surprisingly strong start.

But according to Alonso, Aston Martin’s hard work and recovery over the winter has shortened its planned run to the top for the year, saying:

I expected that 2023 would be a learning season, and in 2024 I would probably fight with Ferrari and Mercedes, and things like that. But we challenged them in Bahrain in the first race, so obviously now everything looks more promising.

Alonso warned that the real test of Aston’s progress will come once rival teams begin to make significant improvements and the team’s level of progress over the season will be tested, which will be seen from the upcoming Azerbaijan GP, ​​adding:
