Crossover Lexus RZ 450e won the gold award for Green Car of the Year at the 2023 Auto Moto Grand Prix in France. The jury, the editorial team of the leading magazine Auto Moto, recognized the RZ as the ‘best zero-carbon car of the year’.
Judging criteria include purchase and ownership costs, practicality and driving pleasure. The trophy was presented to Martin Millot, Head of Marketing for Lexus France, at a ceremony held in Paris.
The RZ 450e is the first Lexus model designed specifically as a fully electric vehicle. Its aim is not only to provide an emission-free vehicle, but also to use the full potential of electric vehicles to recreate the driving experience, true to the Lexus Electrified philosophy.
The RZ is also the first model to benefit from Lexus’ new compact e-axles. They work, front and rear, with the new DIRECT4 intelligent all-wheel drive system. This Lexus-exclusive technology automatically adjusts the vehicle’s power distribution between the front and rear depending on driving conditions, which also improves energy efficiency.
In addition to the benefits of DIRECT4, the RZ’s dedicated EV platform offers better handling and responsiveness thanks to better stiffness, a lower center of gravity and a longer wheelbase. A powerful lithium-ion battery is integrated into the chassis under the cabin floor. RZ’s all-electric powertrain and custom platform enable new design freedom.
The car stands out from the crowd due to its exterior design, while the interior is clear and open, simple and elegant, reflecting Lexus’ Omotenashi generosity and Takumi craftsmanship.
