Airbus delivers first A330neo to ITA Airways – Defense Air & Naval

Toulouse, May 26, 2023 – ITA Airways received its first A330neo, leased from Aircraft Leasing Corporation (ALC), during an event held in Toulouse. The A330neo will join ITA Airlines’ fleet in June to serve its long-haul routes and new intercontinental destinations.

The A330neo is the latest generation aircraft from Airbus to join the ITA Airways fleet. The airline already operates all Airbus aircraft families with a fleet of 68 Airbus aircraft (4 A220, 50 A320 Family, 8 A330-200 and 6 A350-900). By choosing the A330neo, ITA Airways further strengthens its strategy of becoming an all-Airbus operator and raises new levels of efficiency and flexibility.

With the introduction of the new generation of environmentally efficient A330neo, ITA Airlines continues to improve its fleet to achieve its ambitious sustainability goals. To further support this mission, the delivery flight will be powered by a 16% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blend.

The A330neo offers unrivaled operating economy and features an award-winning cabin with more passenger space, a new lighting system, the latest inflight entertainment systems and full in-cabin connectivity.

ITA Airways’ A330neo called Gelindo Bordin, to commemorate the Italian Olympic marathon champion, there will be a three-classroom layout designed by renowned architect Walter De Silva. It will have 30 fully reclining seats in business class, 24 premium seats and 237 seats in the latest generation economy class, of which 36 are dedicated to economy class comfort. All seats will have on-demand video and audio content, as well as full Wi-Fi connectivity and customizable ambient lighting throughout the cabin.

The A330neo is the next generation version of the popular widebody A330. Featuring the latest Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, new wings and a series of aerodynamic innovations, this aircraft offers a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and CO² emissions. The A330neo is capable of flying 7,200 nautical miles (13,334 km) non-stop.

At the end of April, the A330 Family had a total of more than 1,775 company orders, of which 289 are A330neo from 25 customers. To date, 100 A330neo have been delivered worldwide.
