Acura NSX Type S 2022 will not be sold in Indonesia

JAKARTA – It is certain that PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) will not sell the Acura NSX Type S in Indonesia. This was presented by Yusak Billy, Director of Business Innovation and Sales and Marketing of HPM, to the press today (9/8).

“We haven’t sold the Acura NSX for a long time. Even with the Acura NSX Type S,” he said.

The Acura NSX Type S supercar will be produced in a limited number of 350 units worldwide. This will be the last model of the Acura NSX.

The Acura NSX Type S will debut at Monterey Auto Week on August 12, 2021.

Every 2022 Acura NSX produced at the Ohio Performance Manufacturing Center will be a limited-edition Type S model powered by an upgraded version of the twin-turbo V6 engine and Sport Hybrid SH-AWD. To celebrate the NSX’s final year of production, only 350 of the supercar will be available worldwide, with just 300 being offered in the US, marking the first time the Acura NSX Type S has been sold outside of Japan. The compact sedan will be available for customer orders starting August 12 at www.Acura.com/Type-S.

As the NSX marks its final year of production, Acura will continue to pursue sports cars in the electric age.

“Acura is a performance brand, and we will continue to move forward, fully exploring what the next generation of sports cars will be in the electric age.” said Jon Ikeda, Acura Vice President and Brand Officer.

Like its predecessor, the second-generation Acura NSX pushes the boundaries of engineering and redefines expectations of sports car dynamics. The NSX is the first supercar to use three electric motors to enhance all aspects of the driving experience. The NSX introduced several industry firsts including the use of air vents in the supercar’s multi-chamber frames, as well as the world’s first and only 9-speed Dual Clutch transmission (DCT) for a passenger car.

After its launch in 2016, the NSX was named Road and Track’s “Performance Car of the Year” and an “All Star” winner from Automotive Magazine. Reaffirming its market dominance, the NSX was voted “Best Hybrid Performance Car” by Automotive Trend for 2020.

The second-generation NSX also dominated the racetrack, with the NSX GT3 Evo winning the 2019 and 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championships in the GTD class, as well as the 2019 Super GT drivers’ and manufacturers’ championships in the GT300 class in Japan . The NSX also currently holds the Hybrid record in the Time Attack 1 category of the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, set in 2020 by James Robinson, and the production car record at the Long Beach Grand Prix circuit, set in 2019 by Peter . Cunningham.

“The NSX has played a key role in rebuilding Acura as a performance brand and reinvigorating the S-Type,” said Emile Korkor, Acura’s Assistant Vice President, National Marketing. “We’ve seen a lot of interest in the market and we’re not done; there’s more to come as the Type S becomes the ultimate expression of performance in Acura’s lineup.”

With a production total limited to 350 units, the NSX Type S for one year will join the ranks of exclusive and collectible first-generation NSX models, such as the 1999 NSX Zanardi (51 produced) and Market variants (JDM) such as the NSX-R. (483 produced between 1992 and 1995), the NSX Type S (209 built between 1997 and 2001) and the NSX Type S-Zero (30 in total between 1997 and 2001). To date, sales of the second-generation NSX reach more than fifteen hundred units in the United States and more than 2,500 units worldwide.

The NSX Type S is the third S Type variant that Acura has debuted this year, joining the new TLX Type S sports sedan and the upcoming MDX three-row S Type SUV, as the brand pushes performance of its products to new standards. ##
