2024 Polestar 2 introduced: Here is its design and features

Electric facelift for model year 2024 Polestar 2 It was officially introduced today. The model, with a small touch in its design, hides the real changes under its shell. These changes include new electric motors, a switch to rear-wheel drive in the single-motor version, and a new battery pack.

What does the new Polestar 2 offer along with its features❓

When we look at the exterior design of the facelifted Polestar 2, we see that the touches focus on the body-colored grille. Many of the sensors that enable advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in a car are located in this area called the SmartZone. Apart from this, there are no other changes in the body of the model, which also takes into account the new design of the wheels. Interior updates have not been mentioned, but it is said that there are more driver assistance systems on all equipment levels and a wireless mobile phone charger is standard.

New battery pack from CATL

The 2024 Polestar 2 comes with a new 82 kWh battery pack developed by CATL. It is said that this battery, which has a charging capacity of 205 kW DC, reduces carbon emissions to 1.1 tons per vehicle compared to the current model. In addition, thanks to the new battery, we see that the range offered in single-engine versions has increased to 635 km compared to WLTP, and to 592 km in dual-engine versions.

The single-engine version of the Polestar 2 can also be preferred in Europe with a 69 kWh battery sourced from LG Chem. This model, which has a DC fast charging capacity of up to 135 kW, will offer a range of up to 518 km according to WLTP.

new engine

Another feature of the facelifted model is the new electric motors. The entry-level versions that switch from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive now offer 295 hp and 490 Nm of torque with a new permanent magnet motor and carbon silicon converter. This means an increase of 67 hp and 160 Nm of torque over the existing front-wheel drive models. In this way, the car completes the speed of 0-100 km / h in 6.2 seconds, that is, 1.2 seconds less.

The two-engine AWD versions of the updated Polestar 2 also feature the aforementioned engine on the rear axle. At the front, a new asynchronous motor is used, which can be completely disconnected when not needed. Delivering a total of 416 hp and 740 Nm of torque, the engine enables the Polestar 2 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Enabling the Performance Package for those who want more power, Polestar can increase the maximum power to 469 hp with this package. This improves the car’s 0-100 km/h acceleration time by 0.3 seconds. Polestar says that this package, which brings changes such as Brembo brakes and 20-inch forged alloy wheels as well as increased power, will be available later with an OTA update in the two-engine versions.

The first deliveries of the upgraded Polestar 2, which is now available for order in Europe, will begin in the third quarter of 2023. Prices start from 50,190 euros and go up to 65 thousand euros.
