2023 Cadillac Lyriq, profile

Auto123 does a 2023 Cadillac Lyriq first car.

Park City, Utah- Cadillac is reaching an important milestone in its history with the launch of its first electric car. First good news for the manufacturer, the sculpted beauty of the Lyriq 2023 earned us many compliments while in Utah. From the amazement of 9-year-old Jocelyne, who admired the sparkling panoramic roof, to this 65-year-old lady who couldn’t believe that this beautiful car was less expensive than her Mustang Mach-e.

It is the compromise in style that gives this crossover its charm. We see a noble being restrained. The only option in the model is the 22-inch wheels that will be sold for around $2,000. The silhouette is at once simple, refined and graceful. The grille-less front end with its vertical headlamps defines the style to come in all future electric models of the brand. This illuminated grille (which also includes an illuminated Cadillac logo) has the potential to compete with Tesla in the sound and light display category.

All this for a price that will start at $70,000.

Say 33
The trend is in the digital instrument panel and Cadillac brings us one, dominated by a 33-inch touchscreen in one piece capable of displaying more than 1 billion colors. In addition to making it highly configurable, Cadillac had the smart idea to keep the buttons control the air conditioning and sound system.

Just as important, there’s no borrowing parts from the GM parts box. Every control, every button is unique to Cadillac. It was time for GM’s luxury division to take this long-failed approach.

The fully glazed roof extends to the roof spoiler. Music lovers will appreciate the beautiful sound of the 19-speaker AKG sound system, as well as the headphones. You also have a GM-first Active Noise Canceling System that helps cancel out unwanted road noise. This technology, together with laminated glass, contributes to a particularly quiet cabin.

Google also brings a built-in system to this model with Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play providing hands-free access to everything from live traffic updates to your favorite apps and more.

A generous space
In terms of format, we can compare the Lyriq with the XT6 from Cadillac. It is just under 5 meters long and 1.98 meters wide, and it is 1.62 meters tall. The wheels were set back on 4 corners due to the lack of a front engine and the flat floor translates into extra space inside.

You have generous equipment which includes adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, side door opening alert, digital vehicle access (KeyPass), black ash wood inserts with paneled taillights and a Super Cruise operating system that will arrive a little later. .

A model to push to start with, 500 kilometers of freedom
The Lyriq will be offered as standard in a rear-wheel drive version with an electric motor on the rear axle. All-wheel drive will be offered as an option and will add a second engine up front. Our test was on the rear-wheel drive model, which is the only one currently in production. An all-wheel drive model will follow in 2023.
