Recalls issued for Jeep, Hyundai Genesis vehicles – Indianapolis News | Weather Indiana | Indiana Traffic

(WISH) – Here are some reminders that car owners need to be aware of.

About 200,000 Jeep vehicles are being recalled due to a problem with the defroster system.

The recall includes 2021 through 2024 Jeep Wranglers, and 2022 through 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokees. Jeep produced the affected vehicles from September 2, 2020 to August 24, 2023 and from July 23, 2021 to December 5, 2023, respectively.

Jeep will fix the issue by updating the hybrid control processor. It has already implemented a new program in the production of the model, so motorists who are about to take delivery of a new Jeep should not worry about the problem.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said a software bug could cause the system to malfunction.

Merchants will update the software for free. Letters will be sent to owners on April 5.

Another recall involves nearly 100,000 Hyundai Genesis vehicles for a fire hazard.

Hyundai is recalling 90,907 of its Genesis vehicles. Water can get into the starter solenoid and cause an electrical malfunction, which could lead to an engine fire while the vehicle is parked or driving, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

Genesis owners were advised to park outside and away from any buildings until the recall repairs are complete. Dealer mechanics will install a free relay reset device in the engine junction box.

Notification letters will be sent out on April 13. Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 855-371-9460. The Hyundai numbers for this recall are 254(H) and 018G(G).

Hyundai Motor America is also recalling certain 2024 Palisade vehicles with black suede seats. The Occupant Detection System may fail to detect an occupant and disable the front passenger side airbags. There have been no reports of injuries or deaths related to the issues so far.
