Yes, believe it or not, Texas has its own hypercar. One that can compete with the big names in the supercar/hypercar world like Bugatti or Koenigsegg. And that’s all thanks to a Texas company founded by John Hennessey. That car company is called… Hennessey Performance.
Where was Hennessey Performance founded in Texas and what is the fastest car they have built?
The Sealy, Texas based company was founded in 1991 as a company specializing in making the FASTEST version of existing vehicles such as Dodge Demon,, Exorcist (a more powerful version of the Camaro ZL1, and the Hennessey Venom 650R.
However they have been known to create their own original creations. The ones who have really been catching people’s attention are Hennessey Venom F5; an 1800 horsepower supercar that can reach speeds of up to 300 mph that costs over 2 million dollars (what’s that??).
What is it like to drive the Hennessey Venom F5?
Well done car expert Doug DeMuro reviewed the Venom F5 on his YouTube channel; he explored the interior and exterior of the car, and also pointed out some … Texas easter eggs on the car itself. He even took it for a test drive, he was able to get up to 150 mph before slowing down. By the way, if you DO own this car, don’t drive this fast on the road; stay tuned.
You can see a detailed look inside the car below.
How fast has the Hennessey Venom F5 gone?
Hennessey already had an amazing speed record under their belt; Their Venom GT hit aan astonishing 270 mph. The Venom F5 however, went faster… a blistering 271.6 mph.
And that’s just a shot from inside the car; the car looks CRAZY at those speeds from the outside.
So it’s not 300 mph but that’s still pretty close! However Hennessey Performances promised as recently as February 2024 that they will continue to try to break the 300 mph barrier. As of now, Venom F5 is still in the position of Top 10 fastest cars in the world.
I have no doubt that they can overcome the 300 mph barrier in the future. When they do, it will be a very proud day for Texas. But for now, we still SHOULD be proud of the success at Hennessey for building a super fast ride in the name of the Lone Star State.
